Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair launched in 1982 as the world's first "repair" serum. It's been reformulated multiple times since then, but it's remained the world's bestselling serum for most of the past four decades. I used it nightly for eight weeks.
What It Is
Advanced Night Repair is a lightweight, fast-absorbing serum designed to be used at night. The current formula (Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex) includes hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and what Estée Lauder calls their "ChronoluxCB™" technology — a blend of ingredients designed to support the skin's natural nighttime repair process.
The Formula
The formula is genuinely excellent. The hyaluronic acid provides immediate hydration, the niacinamide addresses texture and tone over time, and the overall formula is lightweight enough to layer under other products. The fragrance is present but subtle.
The Results
After eight weeks of nightly use, I noticed: improved skin texture (smoother, more even), reduced appearance of fine lines (particularly around the eyes), and a more even skin tone. These results were gradual — I didn't see dramatic changes overnight — but by week six, the improvement was visible.
Value
At $115 for 50ml, Advanced Night Repair is expensive. The formula justifies a premium price, but there are excellent alternatives at lower price points (The Ordinary's Niacinamide + Zinc at $6.50, for example, delivers some of the same benefits at a fraction of the cost).
The Verdict
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair earns an 8.8. The formula is excellent, the results are real, and the brand has decades of refinement behind this product. The price is high, but the formula justifies it for those who can afford it.
