Tower 28 SOS Daily Rescue Spray Review: A Skincare Lifesaver For Sensitive Skin

As an esthetician with rosacea, I've been searching for the perfect calming spray for years. Tower 28's hypochlorous acid SOS Spray finally gave me one. After eight months of daily use, here's why this $28 bottle replaced six other products on my shelf.

Tower 28's SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray launched in 2020 and quickly became a sleeper hit in dermatology circles before crossing over to mainstream beauty in 2022. The active ingredient — hypochlorous acid — is the same compound used in wound care and hospital settings.

What It Is

A clear, watery facial mist in a 4-oz aluminum spray bottle. The hero ingredient is 0.012% hypochlorous acid. The complete ingredient list is essentially: water, sodium chloride (salt), and hypochlorous acid. That's it. No preservatives, no fragrance, no botanicals. The simplicity is the point.

What Hypochlorous Acid Does

Hypochlorous acid is a substance our own white blood cells produce to fight infection. In skincare: kills acne-causing bacteria, reduces inflammation, calms redness within minutes of application, speeds healing of post-acne marks, and is safe enough to use on broken skin.

How It Performs

I use SOS Spray three ways: pre-makeup post-cleansing (skin feels noticeably calmer), mid-day refresh over makeup (redness visibly reduces within 5 minutes), and as a spot treatment for breakouts (new breakouts have flattened by morning).

Final Verdict

If I could only keep five products in my entire skincare routine, this would be one of them. It's gentle enough for daily use, effective enough to noticeably calm irritation, and affordable enough to stop being precious about.
